The Sahara Desert is one of the largest deserts in the world. It covers most of the part of North Africa. It is extremely hot with very cool species that live in it. The Sahara Desert gets so much sun that it has the power to use solar energy to power the entire world. The Sahara Desert isn't overly protected because nobody lives in it. The Sahara needs to be protected because, their are many species at risk. The Sahara Desert doesn't have a very high species richness due the lack of water. If we let the Sahara Desert run its natural course, it could over expand and all the animals could go extinct.
Protection of Species At Risk
The Addax Antelope is one of the many species is the Sahara Desert that is at risk. The main reason the Addax Antelope is at risk is because humans are over hunting them. They are being hunted for their meat and leather. As humans hunt them and the Addax Antelope being prey for many animals, the Addax Antelope will become extinct very fast. The protect this species, humans need to stop hunting this animal. It is understand they are a source of protein, which is why their should be law where the Addax Antelope can only be hunted during a short certain period of time. We cant stop hunting them all together because they are a source of protein and nutrients, but they don't need to be hunted all the time.
